Paper Stencilling and Sgraffito Plate Decorating - £120

Date TBC

10:00 - 16:00

Jo is offering this workshop for a third time due to popular demand.

Join Jo Dove for a one-day workshop, creating a unique piece of your own, using a paper stencilling and sgraffito technique.

Learn how to use coloured liquid clays to create crisp edged print-like designs on clay.

At the end of this workshop, you will have learnt how to use the paper stencilling technique for both delicate and bold designs as well as experimenting with sgraffito (drawn and scratched onto the surface) to add more detail to your piece. You will have also completed your own (press moulded) plate or tile to decorate onto.

All plates and tiles will be fired and glazed ready to be picked up once ready.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and anyone with an interest in taking their pottery further with surface design.

Children’s Class - £20 per child

Date TBC

9:00 -10.30 for primary age

11:00 -12.30 for top end primary & secondary age

Tile Making - £260

Four week short course starting Monday 15th January - Monday 29th January 14:00 - 17:00

with the final session for glazing and finishing on the 5th February 14:00 - 16:00

This four week tile course looks at different surface design techniques for colour and texture.

Each week will cover a new area of surface design: Impressing objects to create natural prints, designing and carving Lino prints to create a relief surface on clay, making encaustic (inlay) tiles using wooden carved blocks and liquid slip and finally playing with natural oxides to highlight texture.

At the end of this workshop, you will have had a practice at several different areas of surface design and will have your own tiles to document all techniques.
